The Minerals and Waste Development Framework is the portfolio of documents that Essex County Council’s County Planning team uses to make its planning decisions.
In particular the Minerals Local Plan and the Waste Local Plan set out the core strategy, development management policy and the policies map used to determine minerals and waste planning applications.
The Minerals Local Plan and the Waste Local Plan should be read alongside other local planning documents produced by the 12 district authorities in Essex.
The Minerals and Waste Development Scheme (MWDS) provides the timetable for policy preparation during each stage of the process. The current MWDS was adopted in May 2016.
The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) provides an overview of the planning process and identifies how individuals and groups can have their say on planning applications and the development of policy documents.
Essex County Council is required to produce a report outlining how it is meeting the objectives outlined in the Waste and Mineral Local Plans and the Statement of Community Involvement. It also reviews progress in the preparation of the upcoming local development documents.
